Fickle Fork of Fate

Fakebastard

Misoyaki marinated turbot with mixed vegetables. Miso soup with udon and scallion. And mixed greens and grape tomatoes with a soy-Ginger dressing. All made while still coming out of the worst of last week's death cold. I know! How does he do it?

He completely fucking fakes it, that's how. It's all from Trader Joe's. I just got it in my head to plate it like it was something I cooked to see what it would look like. The fish dish was a bit sweet and slightly chemically, but OK. It was a frozen entree grabbed on a whim because it looked light and had vegetables in it.

Having established the Asian/Japanese thing, I hit up the salad aisle for a bag of salad, a carton of grape tomatoes, and a bottle of dressing. The closest I came to cooking was washing and halving the grape tomatoes.

And the soup? Just one of those lunch bowls from... Annie Chen, I think the brand is? They're shelf-stable, you crack the packets and add water and nuke. It was a little on the thin side, but the noodles were really good. I love udon. Anyway, I just split it in half in two small bowls and added a proper soup spoon.

Whole Foods deli on Tuesday, frozen tamales on Wednesday, Faker Joe's on Thursday, and a trip to Pei Wei on Friday. Fuck on toast, am I glad to be essentially over this cold and cold-related health issues.
