Goddamned Costco coupons.
They did this with the Izze, too. First one's not free, but it is a few bucks off. Then you get hooked on fruity sodas, or little balls of dark chocolate wrapped around pomegranate jellies.
We will not discuss how quickly the two-pound bag has vanished, because you don't need to know that.
The good news is, while they're not -good- for you, they're pretty much natural. Scariest-sounding thing in the entire ingredient list is maltodextrin. Plus, any one candy gives you 1% of your RDA of Vitamin C.
Anyway, they taste pretty much like you'd imagine - you get the nice, medium-quality dark chocolate first, then the sharp tang of the pomegranate center. It's a little chewy, a little sweet, and chock full of flavor.
The two pound bag runs just under $10, which is on the upper side of a good value - two pounds is a lot of candy, and the quality is there. It's a much better value with a $2.50 coupon, but they don't send those out very often.
We'll see how much I miss them after the first bag is gone. Which is imminent.

Cranberry Raisinets
Tue, 11/24/2009 - 21:57 — Michael ClearThis reminds me that I was intrigued by the new Cranberry Raisinets but wanted to see if they were any good before buying a whole bag. Has anyone reading this tried them?
Not I

Disappointed
Thu, 11/26/2009 - 09:20 — Michael ClearAfter spending $3.50 for a 5.5 oz. bag at a convenience store, I was treated to dried cranberries so overwhelmed by the chocolate that I could only taste the fruit if I pressed it directly against my tongue. I was looking forward to these too. Now I'm looking forward to seeing what a local sweet shop that loves to take popular candies and improve them. They're as expensive as you imagine they are but they make some good stuff.
$2.50 off online coupon with BJs
Thu, 12/03/2009 - 12:01 — Lee M (not verified)They have an online coupon for $2.50 off this snack on BJ's.com.
I'm really glad that's a store
Thu, 12/03/2009 - 12:57 — Bryan LambertBecause while it's a good candy, I don't think $2.50 off is enough to warrant a bj.
HUGE fan of this product!
Thu, 02/18/2010 - 01:36 — JD (not verified)This product is AMAZING!!! I have never liked dark chocolate. I love pomegranates, so I thought I'd give them a try. After my first bite, I thought I died and went to heaven. They are delicious, and your guests will marvel as well. Give them a try. Cheers
Dark Chocolate Pomegranate
Wed, 07/07/2010 - 09:01 — Anonymous (not verified)We love this candy. I am a candyholic and did not like dark chocolate. The have changed me. Now I eat more dark than light. These candies are the BEST by far. The Brookside dark chocolate Acai with blueberry are the next best thing. They are well worth the buy.
